Hi there!   Before we dive into all the sustainable living techniques and innovation, we have to confirm the need for it.

…Actually, do we really?  If you don’t think there’s a need for it yet, well then hopefully you’re here to research and maybe you’ll change your mind.  If not, no big deal.

Our own philosophy and ideas about sustainable living starts with the next paragraph and a great video about the solution to freshwater scarcity…

The next step in the green revolution will allow us to create functional spaces that serve multiple purposes, increasing our collective sustainability.  This is green living.  This is the purpose of design.”

For the people who came together to form Second Rain, our areas of expertise include decades working with water and outdoor living.  In the process, we have had the opportunity to design and experiment with many multi-functioning spaces that solve various problems.  Increasingly, these problems have been focused more on water and the inconvenience it causes to people when:

a.   it has nowhere else to go but the lowest 3 feet of your house, or

b.  it has seemingly disappeared from the hemisphere that you are in, without any plan for its return.

We are not alone.  A global awakening is happening, not only of the importance and scarcity of clean water, but of just how off-balance the hydrologic cycle is becoming.  Behind the renewable energy push is coming a tidal wave of water system reformation, driven by aging urban water infrastructure (both stormwater and tapwater), and increasing drops in groundwater tables due to more pumping than infiltration.

This site is focused on requesting and presenting solutions to those problems, so if you have info you’d like to share or just like what you see, we’d love to hear from you!
